Amazingly, every local person I have mention this spelling / pronounciation anomoly to in the Dumfries region, to distinguish it from the American Hollywood name, have responded with total indifference and in fact disbelieve that it is not "Hollywood!" Is this the reason for the apparent emptiness about the place?
