Could be! Having wandered around Afton Down I've realised that what we mistakenly think are Iron age hillforts, enclosures, barrow cemeteries, etc. are in fact ancient golf courses. And those discoveries of hordes of round pebbles? Sling shot ammunition? I think not - primitive golf balls!
