Wysefool on the Ridgeway

Looking forward to making many posts about the ridgeway area in particular.

I've added my first post for Scutchamer Knob a site of Anglo-Saxon interest up on the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire. Also the over-looked iron age fort of Cherbury camp out on the flatlands and not a hillfort.

Also, on the Ridgeway is a modern structure dedicated to the memory of Lord Wantage, a military hero of the Crimean war and local landowner. This marble and stone construction of a huge cross on a plinth was erected by Lady Wantage on her husbands death (late 19th Century). She is supposed to have built it on the site of a bronze age round barrow. How's that for a later internment in a barrow... see Lord Wantage monument barrow

Also, if you visit white horse hill, look at Rams Hill on the Ridgeway and just behind Uffington Camp.
