Kingside stone circle. Took us a while to locate as we forgot our map. There are 4 rectangular copses of conifers running West East. Circle between the first 2 from W. Park at Mayshiel farm. From the road follow the Herring Road to the first copse. Skirt the right hand side of the copse which takes you over the saddle. There are two piles of stone. One is long and wallish. Circle between. Quite lovely.

The day before we were at the Duddo Stones. The contrast is stark and tells us the different meanings these places had differ across sites. Duddo has big unmissible stones meant to be seen. A big "look at me". Here the circle is of small stones and off the saddle down towards the beck. The feeling is of intimacy within the landscape. A place hidden within a more natural landscape of trees and scrub? Water. Who knows? Whatever the case its well worth less than an hour of your time.
