For some reason, reminds me of Alvin Stardust.
I've just been down a little rabbit hole there, reading about how the 'real' Shane Fenton died as a teenager, but his Mum wanted his band to succeed so asked their roadie to become Shane Fenton, then that Shane Fenton became Alvin Stardust, but only after a different person had recorded My Coo Ca Choo using the name Alvin Stardust. WTF?
