We had a great time based in Carloway - the perfect base to be in proximity to many archaeological sites and very pleasant and varied coastal environment. The hosting museum had a good display area with clear explanation of timescales relevant to the Bronze Age as well as Callanish etc. for folks to clearly understand. The main body of the museum deals with local historic culture and events, particularly emigration. Also, a shout-out to the Dun Carloway Broch - one of the best I've visited in a beautiful setting. (On our final morning, making for the early ferry, I called by Callanish at 05:30 to take "quiet" photos. We were late arrivals, after others setting up for their own pics!!) Glad you had a great time, we're probably heading over that way next year. Getting Callanish first thing is always a good idea, often a lot of people have the same idea :-) The emigration theme is common to the Western Isles just finished reading a book about Barra, Vatersay, Mingulay etc. Hope you took a few pics to share with us :-)	Posted by drewbhoy 24th May 2023ce
