Fabulous, makes you want to put the boots on and get out there, hope you didn't steal the village name plate while you were there!
There's a big cairn - or two - upon almost every hilltop in these parts.... you and thelonious would appreciate it. Damn hard to get to, though - the farmer turned up on his quad and seemed flabbergasted to see someone here.
Was he of the ‘get off my land’ fraternity or was he OK when you explained your presence?
He was actually fine... once it was obvious I had no other possible reason for being there other than what I said.... ended up asking him more questions than he asked me, as you do. Might have to do a field note for this one.
