Skaill Bay – once a closed loch & fresh water source for the Skara Brae residents (until the sea broke in)

I parked my van up for the night at Skaill Bay first night on Orkney and woke up looking out across this bay, thought I must be in heaven. This must have been taken from Skara Brae itself, I was a few hundred yds to the left in a small car park off the road overlooking the sea. Walked down the beach to Skara Brae in the morning and evening, wonderful (obviously popped in later to pay my dues).
I was a tad disappointed that access from Skara Brae to the Bay was chained off but no matter really, there's always a way. Also I think we need to start thinking about sleeping over in a van:)
