Not sure if I already made this comment, however, I believe that if these cairns were in Wiltshire (I am pleased they are not) they would be a major heritage site rivalling Avebury and Stonehenge, fortunately they are beautifully preserved up in the wilds of North East Scotland where those who want to really enjoy them can seek them out. You certainly covered some ground
They certainly are awe inspiring & it was just us three for the duration of our visit. I felt uneasy here though. I didn't like crawling through the narrow passageways very much, but I'm not usually claustrophobic. I felt like once I was in I wouldn't be allowed out! Silly. Their construction is fantastic.
