What a totally crazy and amazing place. I'm guessing you didn't get inside. I rather wish we had something like this in the UK. I can't think of anything offhand. You kind of wonder what was at the top of their minds, whether it was the sheer practicality of nicking the stones or whether it was primarily a chance to get one over some pagan stones. or maybe even a recognition that they held some religiousness which it might be beneficial to incorporate. And also, what's with the blue stripe? I like it though.
And by the way, total kudos for just jumping in the van and driving to Portugal. It makes me feel tired to contemplate, all that driving starts to annoy me, regardless of the destination. But I need to do more of it this year. Our own van awaits in the drive.
