Tinto viewed from Bizzyberry Hill... the massive cairn is clearly visible even from over 6 miles distant.
You can make out the cairn on Tinto from The Kingdom of Fife 40 miles North. Tinto is also visible from Goatfell on the Isle of Arran 60 something miles to the West (where on a very clear day I once saw a hint of the cairn) and from Ben Lomond 40-odd miles North. Despite Tinto Hill's relatively small size and elevation, somehow by a fluke of geography and Scotland's Rift Valley it is visible from the most unusual and unexpected places North of the Central Belt. Whoever is lying under that cairn got rested up in an amazing position.
