The monument overlooks the fertile Wye Valley... or Cwm Afon Gwy, I guess, the river sourced upon the high ridge between Pen Pumlumon-Fawr and Pen Pumlumon-Arwystli. In the right light the Elenydd can be devastatingly beautiful to these eyes...
