Coo very interesting, Moss. But not much concrete to be concluded sadly? That there might be something stoney in the mound. And that the top of the mound could be deliberately flat. And the blatant view from it of the centre of the circles is encouraging. It must take a fresh eye to see these craftily disguised places, especially when all the glory has previously been taken by the massive stones. Rather exciting. I mean it'd be cool if they could get stuck in a dig a little trench, and see what that stoney bit is. But this is the 21st century, so one must be sensible.
Hi Rhiannon, there is another PDF attached 2013 (which I haven't read yet), but it would be lovely for them to find further evidence of Neolithic evidence there. I love Stanton Drew, it is so understated in the landscape, and yet crying out for investigation. There are quite a lot of long barrows in the area, just can't see them, Jodie Lewis mentions several.
Missed this! Very interesting report on the mound which I confess I'd never noticed despite going to Stanton Drew a lot when I lived 10 mins away... Here's hoping they'll excavate the stone bit. Its not scheduled so only depends on the farmers say so.
