A sad reminder; there is also a smaller plaque in the ground on the slopes approaching Carn Meini, for a similar plane crash in September 1944. This time 5 British men killed, though there are about another 4 noted as injured. Surprisingly there is still small parts of the plane there in the hollow.
Yes, there are some here too, in the cairn itself. There are a number of crash sites in the Brecon Beacons, including one at Waun Rydd which is the site of an annual remembrance walk/service.
