It's not far from the old military road by the looks of it. Nice to think of the folk building the road having a break and sitting by the stone, chatting about the markings on it and what they could mean.
There are a few other marked rocks in the area , some of which are closer to the road .I doubt anyone would have noticed the markings in the pics , they are very faint .
There are a couple of "standing stones " in the area which are right by the road and I believe are route markers dating from the road build and not prehistoric .
It's such a interesting place. Makes my head spin a little to think of all the people who have travelled through here down the years. "Standing stones" route markers like olden days snow poles by the side of the road!
Apart from the markd rocks there is a round house and there was the hoard found in a ditch in 1995 . Romans must have used the route as did Wade . Tomorrow the super sized Beauly-Denny power lines will cross it .
