Looking from Glyder Fach the glorious setting of the two natural monoliths a’top the central of Tryfan’s ‘three peaks’ can be appreciated, standing sentinel above Llyn Bochlwyd (bottom left) and Llyn Ogwen, beyond which rises the main ridge of Y Carneddau, crowned by Bronze Age cairns; Carnedd Dafydd (far top left); Carnedd Llewelyn (centre top left) and, far top right, Pen-Llithrig-y-Wrach.

Another cracking photo Mr G.
You must have a great photo collection.
Have you ever thought of bringing a book out of the best photos?
I would buy a copy!
That is rather fantastic! :)

Tryfan! One of my favourite walks (proceeding to the glyders afterwards...) amazing scenery. And goats.
Got to hand it to you GLADMAN, your documentation of the sacred welsh hills is a fantastic and an important addition to the site! Thanks!
Thank you gentlemen. Tryfan is rather fantastic, I agree.
When I (finally) started putting something back to TMA in 2009 I was - as many are, I guess - somewhat overawed at first... but reckoned I at least had one area of relative expertise.... the Welsh hills. Well, you would have to be a complete muppet to walk them for 20-odd years and not learn something. Since then it's fair to say prehistoric upland Wales is now on the TMA map. A community effort, is it not?
Oh boy, that's a beauty.
Community effort is the key, undoubtedly.
Blimey Gladders, you do find them don't you! That's really stunning. (Note to self: plan a trip to Wales).
I remember being just above the buttress on the north side and craning my neck really far back to look up at where we intended to go, unclimbable ! we shied away from the north ridge and wobbled our way up the heather terrace instead. South side next, obviously.
Yeah, the north ridge is taking the piss a bit. I did it when I was 22 and (honestly) didn't even realise I was climbing Tryfan.... blew me away when I saw the monoliths and fell in. Luckily not literally. Such naivety and innocence.... where did they go? Perhaps replaced by experience and the wish of not falling to one's death!
Seriously, I'd love to try again one day.... but get the feeling you're up for it sooner than that. If it feels right, do it.
