That's a biggun isn't it.
It is indeed. I realised as I was approaching the barrow that it was almost exactly 4 years since my previous visit. Doesn't time fly? I was also very pleased to find no other visitors up there, despite it being a Saturday and nice weather.
I like this a lot. Landscape frames the barrow really nicely.

No, I don't know Wiltshire at all but I see it's a Hump with lots of old stuff on it so hopefully one day. I have not even been to Avebury yet.
Milk Hill summit is a rubbish muddy field mind you, but close to Adam's Grave and various forts/causewayed camps, so worth the effort, especially approaching from the south where you get a great view of Pewsey Down.
I need to plan more trips south!
Didn't realise this was on Windmill hill 'till now, I need to make more trips south too!
It's the most prominent barrow on the hill, presumably why it's got it's own name (and why Chance has added it separately).
Gosh that brought back memories of wandering round Windmill Hill with Moss one cold morning. Hunting through my photos on my external drive... I came on a pock-marked stone that was lying there at the time, and note from the Pastscape link down below that there could have been an intrusive saxon burial, could it be in Picket barrow? Also taking photos of Silbury from the Ridgeway, the top neatly decapitated by the line of Waden's Hill, it's called of course the 'Silbury Game' as you walk from one set of barrows to another....
Seems a quiet oasis in the Avebury landscape. I played the Silbury game between Winterbourne Bassett and Yatesbury, then Yatesbury up past Snake's Lane Plantation to Windmill Hill - you can't not, can you?
