Visited this museum in Andover on a return visit to Danebury. Excellent and atmospheric museum, constructed as a round house inside (though in a conventional building). A great place for a family outing with lots to learn. One display focuses on the animals and plantlife that were around at the time. I learnt that the cockeral, goose and hare were held as sacred and never eaten. The raven was a symbol of darkness and death though also associated with foretelling the future.
Also – something I’ve never seen before, a hologram of the Lindow Man. Very realistic.
That sounds like an interesting place to visit, Tjj, I've not heard of it before. Am I right in thinking there were loads of ravens (or crow family at least) buried in pits at Danebury? I'm sure I was reading something similar the other day, I'll try to find it.

Yes, it did say on one of the display boards in the museum that raven bones were the most common find of animal deposits on Danebury. The fact sheet on Ritual and Religion (which I had copied for 30 pence) shows a photo of the skeleton of a dog and horse which were buried together - two of the horses legs were displaced and the head had been removed and placed behind the body near the dog. Quote from factsheet: "Horses legs and heads are often found buried separately and therefore appear to be significant"
