"Cairn" refers to the material used for construction (i.e. stone rather than earthen), a round cairn is a type of round barrow, although often/usually "round barrow" is taken to mean an earthen mound. The cairn in the picture is deceptive, because of its grass covering the stone construction is quite hidden, so it looks like an earthen barrow from a distance. :-)
Some great photos again tsc. I have a little question ... what's the difference between a cairn and a round barrow - or even a small long barrow?
Thanks June.
