You shouldn't really worry about him doing it on the site of the stone circle if it's a non-scheduled site. All legal artefact hunting aims to maximise the finds rate by researching exactly where the non-scheduled archaeological sites are. They'll have done most of them by now, hundreds of thousands of them.
