Snap! No, a few weeks ago, but it's been sitting in my out tray and then you posted yours and I thought it might be complimentary. Fantastic place isn't it?
Complement aka "put to shame" I think Mr C! It's a great place, I had a unexpected to invite to do some climbing on the cliffs yesterday, but we managed a quick look at the fort and the view.
Hey, I was climbing as well! Never done it with ropes before, brilliant fun. Sadly we had no time to look at the fortifications, but they look formidable to say the least judging from your photos.
Me neither! Small world, huh? The fortifications are impressive because there's four separate ramparts, but only one is all that impressive in its own right. It would be more impressive without the trees actually, as you could see better how the promontory is cut off.
Wowzers!!! Wonderful picture...I like the fact that there's still an old fashioned river crossing of a chap in a rowboat with an overhead rope he tugs on, to get you across the river, somewhere near the pub in the valley...gorgeous spot :)
Brilliant! Not taken today was it?

Superb panorama AR Cane. I went there last summer whilst visiting the Forest of Dean - a wonderful spot.
TSC and Tjj are correct, superb pics, thank you for posting them.
