I had a good look over this map in the AK museum @ Beltane. It is an "overlay" map with ALL the archaeology, each barrow from each group, all the earthworks, enclosures etc clearly marked on top of a rather blocky field and road network. A lot of the features are hidden and you would be hard pressed to make them out on the ground unless you were drinking "Red Bull". Worth having if you are dedicated to ur art like a Glady or Sweety, but the casual user or "drive-by" viewer may be disappointed. Ideally used in conjunction with existing O.S. maps. On the plus side, there is a great deal of useful information such as bus stops marked on the Stonehenge side, along with footpaths and bridleways, some of which are "permissive paths" which are not offically marked on O.S. maps, so no excuse for not really exploring the landscape, up close and personnel. |
