Appendix 7a of the Environmental Assessment lists all the sites of cultural importance that might be affected, dozens and dozens of them, which rather points up the fact you can't build anything in Britain without destroying something, so it's important not to be in the position of picking out a single case - unless it's head and shoulders more important than others or you're going to say you're against all development - the forces of smashing things up win hands down as they can dismiss modern antiquarians as cranks. Ask Tarmac et al.

Anyhow, in this case there are two possible bronze age round barrow cemeteries mentioned (129 and 146) (Do they mean barrow cemeteries or barrows?) So if they're only "possible" and therefore not scheduled I wouldn't think there's a big chance of getting them protected. The Rotherwas Ribbon wasn't "possible" it was all too real and a thousand times more important and the road that was allowed to be built over it was a thousand times less needed....

2 barrow cemeteries(one on each side of the river, so you could say 2 or one big one, depending on the way you see the river) taking out at least 3 barrows, it's not like we've got much , it isn't like the stonehenge /avebury area where you can't move for barrows, it's the only ones we have, which in my book should make them all the more important not less so, it's like the local council market the place as a roman town(it existed before they came) so the earlier stuff does't matter to them!!!!there are neolithic axes all over the place plus what looks like a big henge, bronze age barrows and causeways(with huge amounts of bronze age offerings) and massive amount of iron age finds out of the river and various iron age causeways along the river (have a look at the witham shield). The WHOLE valley the road is going to cut though is sacred!!! I mainly live with a bunch of philistines!!
