RIP treaclechops

close

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that long-time TMA contributor treaclechops (http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/user/1765) died earlier today after a three-month battle with cancer.

She was a very well informed stone-hugger, and loved writing about and photographing the monuments. She did me and Moth the very great honour of being Best Woman at our wedding in 2004.

Many of you met her, either at our wedding, or at one of the picnics or TMA meetings that have been organised over the years. If you knew her, you were lucky.

RIP treaclechops
22 October 1968 - 4 January 2007

I was one of the unlucky ones. So sorry to hear of this sad loss.

Shit. I'm really sorry to hear that. I was greatly entertained by her weblogs and had a brief chat via email once. She seemed like a highly intelligent, literate, warm and amusing person. I'm very shocked and saddened to hear this news.

That's such a shame, makes me want to drive down and give you a hug.

Oh Jane, I'm so sorry to read that...

That's dreadful, I'm sorry to hear it ...

She was lovely Jane, in every way. But you know that. I'm so sorry.

That's so sad. R.I.P.

Much, much too young. My thoughts are with everyone that knew her.

Thats very sad news Jane, she was far too young for such a terrible thing to happen. I have a photo of you and Treaclechops messing around at the Cove at the picnic.. its a happy picture...

I'm so sorry to hear that, she was far too young.
The stones have lost a great friend,
RIP TC

So sorry to hear the sad news Jane. I have the same picture of her at
Avebury spanning the gap with you. I wish I'd met her more often, I think we had the same sense of humour. A tragic loss not only to her friends but to those who found her weblogs amusing and informative. Please send my comiserations to her family and partner.
Jim.

That's awful.

Really sorry to hear of this, Jane ... shocked and saddened.
It's absolutely tragic.
R.I.P.

My deepest sympathies. A great shame.

Sad news indeed. My deepest sympathies to all her friends and family.

I'm stunned.

What a terrible shock.

I met her three times...

It wasn't enough.

I'll remember her "GERROFF"...

And her "Give me a hug".

You, Jane...and Moth...must be devastated.

I'm stunned.

that is so sad, thank you for sharing. Made me think that there might have been others who have contributed to our forums, and without any friends, their passing would be unoticed. Sad, wishing all her friends and family love,
Alex xx

Mikki and I are sitting here in total shock.

TC was the first person I met from TMA, at your place Jane, a few years ago. I remember sifting through her portfolio, I remember the Uffington picnic, I remember her wonderful way with words in her weblogs...

I can only imagine the loss you must be feelng right now.

A glass (or two) will definitely be raised this evening in her name.

That’s really sad news. I used to love her weblogs, they were always beautifully written, humorous and entertaining and her photos showed a great eye for composition and light and shade – she was a great photographer. I’ve still got a print-out of one of her Castlerigg pictures on my office wall at work.
What I’ll remember her for most was her wicked sense of humour on the forum, some of the exchanges between the two of you had me in hysterics.
Very sad news.

Shocked to hear this news, very, very tragic. Rest in peace.

Jane I wasn't lucky enough to meet Treaclechops but always enjoyed reading her field reports on the TMA. I am deeply saddened by this news please pass my condolences to her partner and her family.

Best wishes

Mick

Everyone's said it better than I. A sad day indeed, my dearest condolences to family and friends, RIP

Awful.
I don't think I ever met her, but I have enjoyed her write-ups in the past. That seems so inadequate a way of complimenting someone in these circumstances.

Please pass on my condolances.

H Hob

Deeply sorrowful vibes.

Sad news indeed...the only time I spoke to treaclechops was on this very forUm...when I told her how cool I thought her name was.
Many condolences to family and friends, RIP dude.

(((charLie)))

I'm very sorry to hear this news, Jane. My condolances to Treaclechops' family and to yourself and Moth. xx

Very sorry so I am to hear this news. Rest in peace. Love to friends and family.

This is so unutterably sad.

Mrs G and I met Treaclechops at the Avebury picnic last Summer and were bowled over by her energy and enthusiasm...

We're both absolutely gutted.

Love to all who knew her.

I wasn't lucky enough to know her but I'm still truely shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all her family and friends.

Her funeral is next Thursday afternoon at the crematorium in Wrexham. If you feel moved to do so, her wife Kate has asked for donations in Bec's memory to Nightingale House, the hospice which cared for her until the end. http://www.nightingalehouse.co.uk/

Being a total urbanite, I never come into this forum, as you know, but when I saw the title of this thread on the forums title page I had to click on it hoping I'd misinterpreted what it was going to say. Alas no.

I only had the privilege of meeting her once at your and Moth's wedding and she was truly lovely. We joked about the fact that she was an Antiquairer and I was an Unsunger and we would never meet forum-wise. And her speech at your wedding made me laugh my arse off. You know this, but she died WAY too young. Five months younger than myself for chrissakes. So sad and unfair.

These forums are inadequate to the task of expressing condolences, but please pass them on to her family, including her wife, who must be devastated. My thoughts are with them and you. And will be with her on Thursday afternoon.

Sorry to hear news like that :-(

May her spirit live on...

RIP

Jane,
Saddened to hear the news. I never met her, but I'm sure we engaged in banter through TMA forums of occassion. My condolences to her family and friends,

Jane,

I'm very sad to hear such sad news. My condolences to you, and all who knew and loved her.
I never had the good fortune to meet her, but her weblogs were my favourites on TMA, as she was very articulate with words, making them a pleasure to read.

With deep sympathy,
TE.

Hi, Jane.

Very sad to see this news. My sympathies to you, Moth, and to everyone who knew her.

Be Well

Peace

This news is so very sad, thoughts are with all who knew her.

Our thoughts are with all of those mourning this afternoon, at Wrexham and elsewhere.

Rest well Treaclechops, and thanks for having been here.

The TMA Eds.

Jane,

Reading your blog touched me so deeply, i never met Bec, i wish i had. It is such a shame she never got the second chance i did, you know what i mean when i say that.

Everyone please read Jane's Blog, Remembering Rebecca

My heart goes out to you Jane, Moth, and all who loved and lost in this sad event.

I gather enough to know that there is a big bloody hole here that memories can't fill.

Until next, Treaclechops, we are blessed to be left with your words and work,

safe travels...

Never met but enjoyed reading the posts & her photography was nothing less than stunning.
My deepest condolences for the lucky ones, but am sure through the articulate words & unique pictures she will live on.

My sincere condolences to the lucky ones.

Sorry to be so late in posting here. I like many never met Treacletops, and like many of you I have never met a great number of the people who post on this site. But we all share a common interest and I know that when I do meet any of you we will have something to talk about. Those of you who did know her were obviouly very lucky if these postings are anything to go by. I am not very good at words like this but I hope that she will be remebered for a long time on this site as well as in the world outside.
