I do sympathise, honestly. I don't like getting these calls much either. Most telemarketing places are really badly run on tight margins/shoestrings. "Training" is usually a joke in these places - it's more often a lecture/punishment for not "trying" hard enough on the phone. Callers are usually bullied/pressurised into being "pushy" to get anything like a decent wage, and in many cases just to know they can keep their job.
And lets face it, if they were actually good at sales, they wouldn't sound "pushy" ... thats down to the piss poor recruitment and training/support you find in telemarketing operations.

Don't get me started on the training issue; there are SO few places that provide adequate professional training these days expecting people to just pick it up as they go along and that's a big ask if you've just left school or whatever.

I know I sound like an old woman and I digress a bit but the standard of customer service pretty much all over leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes shop assistants are extremely pleasant and helpful, possibly because they're just nice people, but sometimes you can just tell they've never had any customer relations training; they couldn't be more rude and obstructive if they tried! It's not a generational thing either; some of the worst shop assistants I've ever had the misfortune to deal with are middle aged women and me, I'm not a trouble maker as a customer, honest!

You give SO much as an employee, the least courtesy that could be afforded to an organisation's staff is proper training to enable them to do their jobs better. Surely that's beneficial to both the staff and company alike? Grrrrr....
