Barrett Brown

close

Barrett Brown is an American Journalist & essayist.

Barrett challenged & exposed the US Government over cybersecurity, privacy & democracy rights, the intelligence industry etc.

As it says on Wikipedia: In January 2015, Brown was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for the crimes of accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice, and threatening a federal officer stemming from the FBI's investigation into the 2012 Stratfor email leak.

Please read his latest posting for The Intercept, I think it's quite extraordinary.

Thanks, I liked that a lot. I liked his chatty eloquent style (though I wonder he'd wind me up in person). It's like he's writing from an exotic holiday rather than some dreadful american prison. And I had no inkling there were separate state and federal prisons (to think I sat through more than one series of Prison Break). I might have another cup of tea and read something else of his now. ta

If you have Netflix the "We Are Legion" documentary about Anonymous as a fair amount of BB in it.

Speaking of movies and the US justice system if you have never seen Peter Watkins' Punishment Park then I would seek it out as a matter of priority!
