Just watching the news earlier this morning and to my utter surprise, it seems that the BBC 'controllers' are allowing Nick Griffin to appear on Question Time.

I've found it odd that on a number of occasions in past QT shows, when the subject of the BNP has been raised, I've been surprised by some comments by people of ethnic heritage in the audience, who have said that the BNP should 'have a voice', saying that it's a correct example of 'freedom of speech' etc. not to mention the amusing response to their views i.e. nobody says anything or challenges them after they've said it!

Will the show develop into an 'Easy Street' style fisticuff extravaganza?, or will NG even get in/out of the studio in one piece?
I suppose it all depends on who is on the panel with him-

If you watch the programme- does it mean you are a nazi?
(I'm taking the piss out of the Telegraph newspaper)

The idea I think is that if they come out with the expected bigotry they will be exposed by doing so and hopefully be left looking ridiculous.

if they are left silenced there's a bit of that rebel/martyr thing at play.
so followerrs can go - 'omigod they won't let the truth come out' if they had nothing to fear they'd let this be said.

So hope the first scenario is the one that will come out.

it's an odd one isn't it? shit as the BNP is they do have rights. that doesn't mean we shouldn't throw stones and drop grand pianos on them from thirteenth storey windows when they walk past but alas they do have rights.

the entertainment value of watching the idiot paint himself into a corner is surely worth running the risk of being called a nazi by the telegraph though.

i haven't heard an interview on the radio yet that hasn't ended in the interviewer decimating the interviewee with some stoopid question like (the other day on R2) on the subject of people coming to our country to find work and people that live here and are british and work.

'so you feel you have more in common with a white Polish man than a British Asian man?'

'............... yes' (in a mousey voice because he knew if he'd said 'no' he'd be betraying his partys ideals)

and so they'll always be sitting fucks...i mean ducks!

i realise the radio 2 thing isn't the exact wording (the 'yes' is though so you can take that to the bank) but i'm sure the jeremy vine show is on some i player thingamyblog somewhere

Anyone see Helena Kennedy on the Andrew Marr show?

She said of Griffin, 'he's Cambridge educated, not some torag'.

Eh?

From a woman who's supposed to support 'torags' the land over, breaking social barriers wherever and whenever in the name of human rights.

I'd have replied, 'what a dump that Cambridge must be then to have produced the likes of him'.

Silly woman.

I agree with Duckbreath. Griffin won't spend the whole programme quoting from Mein Kampf. He'll be responding to questions on subjects like the postal strike, and doing his utmost to present a very particular image. This will be one of a 'reasonable' champion of common sense. A friend to the ordinary (ethnically English, hetrosexual) man on the street.

A contradiction in democratic societies is the granting of free speech to those who oppose it. This is admirable, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that the BNP's share of the national vote won't decline after this programme.

Sadly there seems to be no quick witted comedian on the panel this week. Griffin has managed to get through into the venue for tonight. I just hope he makes an ass of himself, just like Emil Suvundra on the Frost Programme in 1967. Reputations can be lost on TV as well as made.

Or does it just mean you can't get off the sofa and there's cack all else on?

I don't know what the fuss is all about. On Fox News over here, we have got 3 dicks in a row every single night spewing the same shit.

Glenn Beck
Bill O'reilly
Sean Hannitty

I just ignore the fucks. {And the network in it's entirety}

Think that went pretty well. Griffin looked like a cackling idiot.
Jack straw looked almost human next to him and Bonnie Greer was sassy & I think i'm in lurv.
Didn't Griffin think it was a bit of an xmas present though? Think I need to re-watch, shame i-player doesn't work over here.
might think it might turn up on Pirate Bay, but not sure if Pirate Bay still operating right.

...before my impotent rage kills me I'm gonna forget about this and move on. To Giils v Charlton tomorrow.

This post helped calm me down...

Does anyone not think that the BNP have gained interest as a result of the 'cack handed conservative form of socialism', that has been new labour for the last so many years, doing sod all for those communities where fear, and in some places, neglect and impoverishment, has led to blame, misguided anger and racism as a result?

Yeah I saw QT too and apart from the inevitable and obvious bigotry and racism on display (what did people expect?), I also felt a bit pissed off hearing Jack Straw, who's government have spent best part of their years in office focussed on and supporting pointless invasions and wars on terror (and leading to more terror) rather then addressing issues closer to home. Maybe that's why Griffin ended up on QT the other night.
