Hitler was an utter bastard, there's no doubt, but not every single thing he championed was evil by association.

The Volkswagen, for example... beloved vehicle of hippies. Even Jewish ones.

Indeed. Without wishing to turn this thread into something off Stormfront, it's simply undeniable that the National Socialist government of the mid-1930s implemented some policies that we would now consider extremely progressive.

Of course, it would be an understatement of epic proportions to point out that these policies were outweighed by the unspeakable evil Hitler was responsible for.

A public smoking ban, the aforementioned workers-rights stuff, a remarkable forestry program, the implementation of 100% organic agriculture (pesticides and fertilizers were starting to take off in a big way by then and Hitler saw them both as an environmental and a health risk), and so forth.

None of these things should be cited in defence of the Nazis. But they do mean that one cannot simply point to a given policy and demonstrate it's a bad idea by stating "Hitler did that".
