The Government are kacking themselves because so many children are being withdrawn from state education at an alarming rate, voting with their feet. Whilst I appreciate school is right for some (I have feet in both camp - one in school, one not) the (as quoted above) one size fits all National Curriculum approach hinders a percentage of children.

Home Educators are NOT saying school is bad, though many have had a bad experience of it.

You are wrong - the Review wants Home Educators to Register annually by applying and BEING ALLOWED to Home Educate. The Review also states that Local Authority Education bods can enter your home and demand to speak to your child alone, without its parents or guardians or anyone connected to them present. Not even the Police have these powers! Parents, who make the choice to Home Educate, should be entitled to the same presumption of innocence and competence that school going children's parents receive. Are they going to turn up and visit schooled children at home after 3.30pm or turn up on a weekend - I don't think so. Local Education Authority are not trained for this. Who knows what a young child might say that might be totally misconstrued, or a child with special needs even.

The Review fails to make any case for its recommendations. No evidence is presented either of the outcome of Home Educated children relative to their schooled counterparts or of any link between Home Education and child abuse. Yet the assertion that “Home Education could be used as a ‘cover’ for child abuse” stands unrefuted.

Badman (so aptly named) is stating Germany as a country to be upholded in their 'no home ed law'. This very law was brought about by Hitler!

In his introduction to the Review Badman states: ‘there has to be a balance between the rights of the parents and the rights of the child.’ I feel very strongly that this is not about my right as a parent to Home Educate my children, as if it was just another career option, but about THEIR (the children's) right to be Home Educated, to receive all that is on offer in a personalised and individual education free from interference which is not evidence-based but wholly subjective!!

A review that has NO FACTS but states "I believe" 16 times is just a document of personal opinions.

These recommendations threaten my civil liberties, my human right for respect to private and family life and my child's right to the education which I believe to be right for them and which not only suits my child but my child believes to be right for them.

I'm on your side in this, but you do yourself a serious disservice by name-checking Hitler.

Did you know, for instance, that Hitler passed a law decreeing that all Germans should have paid holidays? Are you suggesting that's a Bad Idea? Or are you suggesting that outlawing home-schooling leads automatically to death camps?

What exactly does the Hitler comparison do? Besides distract from your point and make it seem far more extreme than it is?
