I've always felt that if I were to ever find myself in the position of raising a child, that I'd seek some kind of compromise between home-schooling and public schooling.

There's no question that children need to be around other children, and keeping them entirely isolated from a regular school environment runs the risk of creating adults with few social skills.

On the other hand, I'd definitely want to have more control over the things my child was being taught. The modern education system is -- in large part -- a factory designed to produce "productive workers".

This crippling of individuals I consider the worst evil of capitalism. Our whole educational system suffers from this evil. An exaggerated competitive attitude is inculcated into the student, who is trained to worship acquisitive success as a preparation for his future career.
