There are hopeful signs. There is a consortium of prior Israeli military people who have joined with prior Islamic militants to end the violence. I don't recall the name, but one of them just lost a daughter to an attack. Instead of falling back into the old eye for an eye routine, which has kept the hate and killing going, he's stuck to his principles of peace, and has resolved more than ever that this endless retaliation has got to end- it's the only way to actually achieve anything.

Now it's up to all the reactionary elements on both sides to follow suit. Unfortunately there are elements that profit from keeping the hate alive... it's not even so much an ideological battle for them as it is a financial one.
