Seeing your post reminded me that I forgot to reply to your response about Fairport Convention a couple weeks back! Couldn't really think of what to say except to nod in agreement.

Ummagumma is a great album isn't it - definitely one of my favs by the band. Think it's about time I owned it on CD having owned it on tape for over 30 years. I personally think it is their finest from their experimental psychedelic phase.

I also note with interest that instrumental album by Santana. Wasn't aware of this and will duly investigate

Sorry Sweetcheat, that was supposed to be in reply to Fitter

Yes, I’ve always thought ‘Ummagumma’ a vastly underrated part of the Floyd’s back catalogue, even by the band themselves. I hope you enjoy ‘The Swing Of Delight’ as much as I do. It was one of those albums I dug in secret during those hipper new wave times and, hearing it again all these years later, I think it stands up well. If you dig the likes of Weather Report or Return To Forever you should like ‘Swing’ too: fine fusion music enhanced by Santana’s patently groovy axemanship.
