I saw 'em at T&C 2 on that very tour - way better, I thought, than Baby Lemonade who he used a few years later.
I believe Arthur was of the same opinion himself, in the Forever Changes book he says he had to keep checking to make sure John Head was not Johnny Echols, such was his talent.
I was talking to Templo a couple of years back who told me that during the Baby Lemonade backed tours Arthur kept ringing John Head moaning about the guitarist in BL being a waste of space.
Apparently John still has Arthur's number in his phone, as a momento and reminder of their brief friendship (and of course, his son is named Arthur in respect and undoubtedly nicknamed 'arf-a-head' in school!)

The people who did the Arthur Lee documentary we're also doing a Shack dvd, its been in the pipeline for years though, so who knows if it'll ever come out.

I didn't think BL were bad musicians as such (and I've never really cared about that kind of thing anyway), but Shack just had that vibe of a "real" band at work (I used to get the same kind of vibe off The Fall - who were very different musically of course). I got the feeling that Shack would be a good outfit under pretty much any conditions. I wish I'd seen them more.
