Ape In Pink Marble - Devendra Banahart
I love Devendra Banhart but on the strength of one play of this new one I’m unimpressed. The material sounds ok, nice arrangements but the vocals...argh! The constant ‘uh-uh-uh’s just sound gimmicky, like Cliff Richard. Or Stevie Riks doing his Bee Gees piss-take.
Grinderman – Grinderman
It’s hard to believe that this is knocking on for ten years old now! Obviously there’s a large tongue in cheek present on some numbers but I love this album all the same. And I Don't Need You (To Set Me Free) is amongst my favourite Nick Cave numbers. There’s nothing jokey about this one.
