Agree, used the library at Holborn to try all sorts, wasn't a huge selection but someone had good taste. And lots of fantastic spoken word stuff, poetry and plays.

I remember sitting around at the listening post in the ILAC centre in Dublin listening through a load of great jazz stuff. plus they had a lot of jazz video you could watch on a tv set up there.
Not really checked out what the libraries in this town have musically.
Maybe I should take a look, but I have far more stuff at home now than I did back then.

yeah, libraries are pretty good. Not sure how the interlibrary loan thing works with recorded material, if it does at all. Or if that's in fact something other people here are getting hold of material through.

Shame to hear cuts might undermine that.

Absolutely. I haven't been in for ages but back in the early 80s, when I used to count traffic for the council, we worked in 2 hour rotation shifts from 8 til 6pm so we had long breaks twice a day with nowhere to go that was warm and didn't cost money. In the winter months the libraries of Camden were a godsend.
