Charles Mingus - Ah Uhm. Like it
when I first heard that lp I heard (pre-)echoes of mid 60s mod stuff like The who & Small Faces in it. I think it was something of an influence on a lot of that material, or possibly Mingus in general was. You can hear that it took an influence from a lot of blues/r&b itself.

Guru Guru - Kanguru. Top Krautyness.
I know this is Stephen Stapleton's favourite of their records. Not sure if it's their best. I guess their material falls into at least 2 categories because of line up changes, 1st 3 and the later stuff. Think 1st 3 are heavier guitar burnout scorchers which are extreme enough to verge on the industrial and later stuff while remaining pretty psychedelic is a lot less extreme ? Did find the early later stuff did retain some worth after hearing it dismissed beforehand.

Only got two Guru Guru albums and the other one, whose name escapes me just now, is far poppier than the Kanguru one, which seems more overtly Krauty if you see what I mean.
