i have no knowledge of swans at all
what would you recommend as a suitable intro?

White Light From The Mouth of Infinity or Burning World are a good starting point, hard to get hold of in physical form but that'swhat the net is for

if byou want available CDs i'd go for Children Of God/World of Skin or Soundtracks for the Blind

the early real grind stuff is available, it's loud slow & grim, I really love Cop. the Cd of Cop/Young God/Greed is probably the one to go for if you want noise

they really are 2 seperate beasts pre and post Children of God

for the ambient more songier later stuff and :

If you want your face melted and stomped on ;)

Amazing band and Gira and Mosimann and unsung heroes

Am picking up some of those double cds I didn't have - Swans are a band that for some reason I had stuff on vinyl & the dreaded tape...My tape of The Burning World died some years ago - perhaps Gira should reissue that or the hard-to-find 'Forever Burned' (which completely passed me by at the time) to "fund raise" for future Swans-activity?

The Various Failures compilation and Children of God/World of Skin are particularly doing it for me...

Liked the message regarding Swans from Young God recently - it doesn't sound like Gira & co will be playing to that retro/Don't Look Back audience. Aiming to carry on where 'Swans are Dead' left off with added experiences from Angels of Light...I do hope there are some UK dates - they should really headline at Capsule. I'm all for new material and all, but a few older songs would be nice to hear, e.g. 'Raping a Slave', 'Cop', 'A Screw', 'New Mind'....

Does anyone know why Jarboe isn't involved?
