When I lived in Brittany I thought the shipping forecast was referring to Finisterre in Brittany. It amazed me how different the weather could be just a few kms of the coast.
We could have glorious sunshine whilst the poor fishermen of Finisterre battled force 6 SEerly becoming cyclonic. poor.
Fortunately no one noticed when I found out and stopped telling everyone to shut up when the shipping forecast came on....
