ooh you namedropper, Mr G.

Gavin Turk was there as well - but he was one of the exhibits. Tracey was unveiling her sculpture of a sparrow, paid for by the BBC, at 1pm, and we had maps and directions of how to get there. But I got diverted in Chinatown and missed the whole thing. Then she came and sat right in front of me, with her retinue, later on at FACT. She was to present the prizes, that evening, for the best art stuff, which included FACT, as best venue. (It's a cinema). It was the last time I was in Liverpool and has stuck in my mind, obviously. The art was just rubbish - all of it - and that was the last presentation day event, organised by Arts Council Northwest. Obviously my own unreleased 8mm films have more rock art content than any mainstream release but Herzog's films *are* very special. Aguirre - Wrath of God, Fitzcorraldo, Meine Fiende and Grizzly Man stick permanently - Bad Lieutenant was cruel to alligators.
