That's my view too, last time I tried hitching in Wales, which was quite a while ago I admit, it was bad.

I've not hitched in Wales, but I've picked up a few hitchhikers. That said, I think it depends on the region, and Pembrokeshire might not be a great place to start.

From what I've heard of Ireland, I think you'd be better off trying FW's plan.
