I wont be watching this particular pile of crud but I dont imagine the true horror of what befell the Highlands and the people who lived there post- Culloden will be told in any way which is meaningful.

However, History books tend to be written by the victors and all that can be usefully done is to be glad that some pleasant views of Scotland will appear on some US TV screens, boosting our tourism. The woolen mills shall sell more kilts. And the series itself does give work to our talented Scottish actors like Graham McTavish (who recently played Sir Lachlan Morrison in The Wicker Tree) and Galloway lad Sam Heughan (he was in that film Emulsion - which you will one day wish you'd seen sooner). Also plenty of work for all the extras required like kilties and swordspeople as well as firing a roaring trade for deep-fried Mars Bars in the Kinlochleven chippies etc.
