Off to Aberdeenshire and Orkney soon. Can I have some recommendations for "must see" sites please? Especially on the mainland, as I think I have Orkney pretty much stitched up.
As a photographer, photogenic sites are a priority for me.

I "only" saw 20 circles in 3 days in Aberdeen a few years ago so don't have the complete list to pick from... However, Tyrebagger, sunhoney and Aikey Brae were probably top for me.
Agree with Tap o' Noth... Great place, great view. Vitrified stone.. wow!
If you are driving up from Aberdeenshire to get the ferry from Thurso then I'd recommend stopping off at the Grey Cairns of Camster... totally Martian.
Tyrebagger, Whitehills & East Aquhorthies all reward getting up early.
Cothiemuir is worth a visit but is difficult to photograph due to being surrounded by trees. Wide angle and remote flashes could be good though. Loudon Wood has more sky available but if you don't use it already I'd recommend the app 'The Photographers Ephemeris' to see where the sun (or moon) is going to be.
Berrybrae is lovely and Bourtie has an epic view across to Bennachie. South Ythsie is something different and Sunhoney as lovely as it sounds.
I keep returning to East Aquhorthies though. It gives good sunset too:
Midmar Kirk, whilst not being a personal favourite due to it being a bit 'manicured', is good from a photography point of view as there is the Christian/Pagan juxtaposition (hate using that word) going on!
Certainly worth a look, even if just for the batman recumbent/flankers.
Can't help myself from adding one relevant and one irrelevant suggestion!
1. Between Ab. and Thurso, if possible, try and look up the Templestone site. (Listed here.) It's just a stop-off, perhaps, but we were enchanted by the then owner, Caroline Dunnet. Probably by now it's someone elses' property. Nice castle over the little hill in the background.
2. Relevant, if you haven't already added it. Isbister.
3. The irrelevant. While on Orkney, visit Jolly's of Orkney. Kippers to die for!
