Partly building a broch at the quarry in Caithness and then knocking it down seems to be the experiment, but it looks interesting though at the tip of Scotland, and it has been done before by them ....http://www.caithnessarchaeology.org.uk/fieldwork2005.html

Interestingly they ask for different types of volunteers to attend, not all heavy builders work then!

"Volunteers of all ages are invited to take part; no experience is required, tools and training will be provided, and it’s free to participate. Artists, photographers, film-makers and art students will also be welcomed should they choose to come and take inspiration from the creation of an imposing and beautiful structure."

Finding the right volunteers is never easy. Asking novices to lay stone is a little like asking novices to play Beethoven. Some good pictures here ( http://www.gamedecor.com/abasworld/Places/Brigantium.htm ). The owner didn't miss a sesion of the upper house, last year, according to the statistics printed by the Guardian. (Which is probably why the grass is so long in the enclosure).

Aye. Its a bit like a great big lego construction. Pretty basic, flat slabby, dry-stane construction. Pretty much anyone can do it. As with many such projects, its not the teaching of the fairly basic skills required which is the difficulty, nor getting a range of volunteers involved, it is retaining volunteers for more than a day or two. Once you've done it for an hour or two... it gets a bit monotonous.
But good luck to them.
