I've now got my hols planned. I'm off to Kilmartin for four days and then of to Arran.

I have Stan B's Kilmartin book and a couple of other guides. I will head down onto Kintyre as well one of the days to look back at Antrim. I saw the Mull of Kintyre so many times while researching the Antrim book - I have to take in the view other way.

At least when I head for Aberdeen in the Spring I'll have the OS maps already :-)

Thanks for all the info and help. Any must-see recommendations still appreciated.

Good call on Arran & delaying Aberdeenshire to be a seperate trip!

Only 'did' Kilmartin very quickly & Arran fairly superficially so have no recommendations other than the obvious ones. Couldn't find Machrie Burn/Moor in the forestry but I see Greywether's posted a pic that might be helpful http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/37202/machrie_farm.html

Edit: Oh, just remembered - I'd recommend the Giant's Graves on Arran tht you just MIGHT otherwise not bother with - cool site with nice views back as you walk up.
