Hi Hob. Not a real synchronicity this time as I was elsewhere on TMA when I saw your post of the Hunterheugh cairns and realised I had taken photos after the fire on Friday 13th. I think it had been a 'contolled heather burning' which had clearly got out of hand. Parts were still smoldering and my feet are still black from the soot. The burnt area is quite extensive and runs down hill the to the south and east. Unfortunately I forgot to take with me your coordinates of the standing stone but the fire has revealed several other possibilities of fallen stones. Many of the stones have been scorched and damaged by the fire but the saddest thing was the nest with 13 baked eggs (grouse or pheasant I guess).
Nice pics of the Hunterheugh rock art by the way. Hope to see you there soon. We must stop meeting like this!
