There is also the Shelving stones site which I discovered north of Avebury.
It is now a jumble of sarsens but there is a single piece of oolitic Limestone which ironicaly was identified by Mike Pitts and later confirmed by Jim Gunter.

That's it - oolitic limestone - the chunky stuff. Heavy, dense material. It's pretty exciting thinking a piece (alright, two pieces) of Stonehenge has turned up after all these years. I believe that yellow lichen is called Xanthoria; aged hippy wool spinners will recall using it as a natural dye. It also suggests that Berwick St James has very good air.
