I've been visiting Dowth for the last few evenings and the field is particularly wet and boggy at the moment and also full of sheep. Of course its likely both will have gone by the time you get there but I've had to go back to get boots because the sheep shelter between the mound and the hedge around the entrance to the south passage and souterrain. Best to be prepared I suppose.
The reason I mentioned the sheep is because there are a lot of lambs but hidden among them was a very aggressive ram who started stamping at me and made a half charge. I've never had a close encounter with a ram so I didn't know whether to run, shout or stay put. I just shouted at the bugger in the end. Bear in mind though if bringing kids!
