I noticed this marking when I originally visited the site. Posting the picture has jogged my memory. Any idea what the marking is near the bottom of the standing stone?

Last time I visited was about a year ago i never thought there was any man made markings on either of the stones . Not too far from Leakin which has a clearly marked rock in an area where there are very few .

This is what's called a Benchmark and was put there by Ordnance Survey. On larger scale maps the site will be shown with a specific altitude, above sealevel, and that's at the horizontal part of the arrow.
