Manton is near Marlborough and yes, have walked around that area a few times (not too far from Devil's Den on the other side of the A4). I went back and read the forum post by Bladup who was instrumental in finding the stones of a lost long barrow in the area. If nothing else it was good to re-visit that - a great post by my old Avebury mate Steve Marshall in there too.
Some really interesting entries under the Miscellaneous section of Manton Down as well.
Thanks June, have you been to the long barrow stones? I went to visit the long barrow stones in December, much clearer than when Bladup first found them, probably partly due to the time of year but they weren't hard to get at, so I assume there have been visitors since that first uncovering as I remember Bladup's description of the thick brambles.

The "circle" is a weird thing to just appear though, if it's modern it wouldn't be shown by the OS in antiquity script. If it is ancient and unearthed, surely there would be something about it on the net? A newly discovered stone circle that close to Avebury would be massive news.

Oddly the same day as my Manton Down visit I went on to Devil's Den, which I see Zeb has posted pictures from today.

Actually I don't think I have visited those 'lost' stones TSC - good to hear they are still visible. Have spoken to my map-reading, Devizes-based, walking-friend and we plan to have a mooch around there soon. Also to try and find the Rockley folly, check it matches up with the co-ordinates you've posted. As am sure you know there is a massive wealth of sarsens in that area. Great post btw.
