Yes, and there's hoggs as well, just to complicate things further, which are the diminutive form of 'hoggetts' sort of female teenage sheep.

And I wouldn't say that the ability to nmae landscape features is necessarily a symptom of control - just of happenstance. (I've got two features to name eg, a connected long cairn and a sanctuary, but just 'interpreting what I've found'.

The naming of landscape features (Devils Arrows, Twelve Apostles) is all about subsequent generations trying to give them a meaning that either includes or excludes them from their own culture. If you think about the word Agriculture it could be explained as 'bringing culture to the agg', as in making the barren fertile, all of which follows a distinctly Mother Earth/Earth as female line of meaning.
